Do parents sit and watch? For the younger students, aged 2-3 years, parents have the option to stay and watch, but you may find that after a few weeks, your child will gain more confidence and you won't need to stay. From the age of 4 years parents will only be invited to watch their child participate in the class at the end of each term.
-
What should my child wear?Any child who is attending our Dynamic Tots dance classes 2-4 years can wear anything that is comfortable and easy to move around in, such as leggings and their DPA t-shirt and bare feet. If after a few weeks your child knows they want to continue, then it is recommended that they wear ballet shoes, as these will help to strengthen their feet. DPA pupils from the age of 5 must then purchase the Ballet, Modern, Tap uniform from DPA. Musical Theatre pupils must wear their DPA t-shirt to every class with comfortable bottoms, such as leggings and bare feet.
-
Do they have to do exams? No, your child is not required to do Dance exams, but it is something that is recommended as it gives pupils something to work towards. Exams will take place from 5+ years. Your child can still progress through our classes without having to participate in the examination sessions. For Modern & Tap DPA follows the ISTD syllabus, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards: www.istd.org For Ballet DPA follows the RAD syllabus, Royal Academy of Dance which is the leading Ballet examination board in the UK: www.royalacademyofdance.org For Acro DPA follows the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus: www.acrobaticarts.com DPA does not work towards Musical Theatre exams but instead we focus on giving pupils performance opportunities.
-
Are we allowed to take photos/videos during class? You are more than welcome to take photographs during class, but we would appreciate it if the photos are not publicly used unless you get permission from the other parents. From time to time, we would like to add photographs of some of our DPA pupils and add them to our website and social media pages. If you would NOT like your child to appear in any marketing material, you must email DPA before attending any of our classes and we will make sure they are not included in any pictures.
-
